So I finally finished the small video of our trip to Newfoundland this August. It was Jack’s first trip on a plane and was supposed to be my first time to Newfoundland when the weather was warm, oh well.
Here are some of the pics from our fly-in fishing trip. It was the best Walleye fishing I’ve ever had. To give you an example of how good it was, Chlanny and I caught over 70 fish in a 2 and a half hour period one night! I can’t wait to go back…
So the big fishing trip is next week. Lake Kipahagan is a 20 minute flight north of Flin Flon Manitoba, home of Bobby Clarke. It’s a big lake with the fly in Cabin situated on an island in the middle of the lake. I can’t wait to get up there and show the boys how it’s done. Here’s a map of the destination:
Man I love to be golfing again. I had a little bitterness at the beginning of this season because I was stuck doing spring projects while Violet was out enjoying the links. She got in 5 games before I hit the course. I brought the game to her 2 years ago, in part, so i could golf more… hmmm.
Well anyway, I got out 3 times this past weekend. The first day was at Moon Lake Saturday - cold and crappy so the golf game suffered. Sunday night, Chlanny and I shot 9 at the Silverwood par 3. I crapped the bed while watching Chlan man shoot the lights out.
Anyway, holiday Monday, I didn’t have a tee time, but convinced V to just go and try and get on somewhere. To make a long story short, we got on the fron 9 at Saskatoon West. We got paired up with a father and son who were golfing while the mother was just going along in the cart for the drive. Well be damned if I didn’t shoot the best game of my life. I shot a 2 over 38! First time I ever shot under 40 in 9 holes.
I love Golf. One day it can completely humble you, the next day you shoot the game of your life. My Dad would often joke that the game of golf is “nice walk ruined by a little white ball.” I’m convinced it’s a game of attitude. If you go out to have a good time, keep that attitude through the bad shots, you’ll not only play better, you’ll really love the game more.
